This story revolves around Vandiyathevan, a brave and intelligent man who went to Chola area to deliver messages to the king from the Crown Prince Aditya Karikalan. Also, the story shuttles between Arulmozhivarman’s travels in Sri Lanka.

Ponniyin Selvan is all about how Kundavai (Arulmozhivarman’s sister) to bring back Arulmozhi to establish political peace in a land seemingly getting besot with unrest and signs of civil war.
